I was recently asked to make a painting for a local magazine called MPLSzine. ”Found ” was the theme of the issue, and the content was up to the artist to interpret. I am honored to be added to the thick lineup of Twin Cities artists whom have contributed. The painting/cover I created can be seen below, and the issue can be read HERE.

Its a pleasure to have one of my images featured on the front page of Mobius: The Jornal of Social Change Online Magazine. Go give them a read here.

“Welcome to Mobius: The Journal of Social Change. We became an online-only journal, published quarterly in March, June, September, and December, in 2009.

Established in 1989 as a quarterly print journal with local free distribution in Madison, Wisconsin,Mobius strives to publish challenging fiction and poetry that deals with social change as either a primary or a secondary theme. We’ve been asked many times what we mean when we say “social change,” and we’ve never really been able to provide a satisfactory answer. To paraphrase Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart, we know a Mobius story or poem when we see one. Writing that offers some form of social commentary is a step in the right direction, but we don’t necessarily look for the overtly political or even the overtly anything. First and foremost, we like good writing, with strong elements of plot and character. We like stories with impact. And we like stories that feature theme. We like poems that are unusual and entertaining. In a word, a Mobius story or poem is about SOMETHING.

At Mobius we believe that writing is power and good writing empowers both the reader and the writer. We feel strongly that alternatives are needed to an increasingly corporate literary scene.Mobius strives to provide an outlet for writers disenfranchised by a bottom-line marketplace, and challenging writing for those who feel that today’s literary standards are killing us in a slow, mind-numbing fashion.

The miracle that is the Internet allows us to share with you a greater number of stories and poems than in our former print version. Enjoy! And feel free to submit your fiction and poetry. Again, we like social commentary, but mainly we like good writing.”

I recently made some Japanese side-stitched journals out of a bunch of scrap Rives and Arches paper laying around the studio. I used some old letter pressed prints for the covers and did some hand painted embellishments on it. I really enjoy making books. Here are some process pictures and the final books…
